Vesper Martini

Vesper Martini was invented and named by Ian Fleming from his first James Bond series, the novel Casino Royale published in 1953.

The iconic “shaken, not stirred” phrase from 007 British secret agents, James Bond, would become known as the Vesper, after Bond girl Vesper Lynd at 007 James Bond: Casino Royale, 1967 movie.

The recipe calls for three measures of Gordon’s, one measure of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet, with a slice of lemon — shaken.

In the “Pink Lights and Champagne” chapter, Bond asked Christian name to the beautiful Vesper Lynd, was when she said, “I was born in the evening, on a very stormy evening”. There is the relation, Vespers is a sunset evening prayer service in the Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Eastern Catholic, Lutheran, and Anglican liturgies of the canonical hours.
