White Lady
White Lady cocktail is quite debated. The first coming up with a cocktail named White Lady was Harry MacElhone while working at London’s Ciro’s Club in 1919. This recipe can be found in his 1923 ABC mixing Drinks and calls for brandy, Cointreau and white creme de menthe.
Although, the most popular recipe comes from the American Bar at the Savoy Hotel in London. This White Lady was created by Harry Craddock and published in his 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book.
The original recipe does not call for egg white. However, is believed to be an improvement of the drink. This adds more texture and smooths the alcohol in the cocktail.
