Hennessy Cognac

Hennessy V.S.

Country: Cognac, France

Raw material: Ugni Blanc

Alcohol: 40%

The Maison Hennessy cognac was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy.

Hennessy cognac is produced from Ugni Blanc grapes, which are perfectly suited for the distillation process, that transforms wine into eau-de-vie.

This goes through double distillation. In the first, a raw spirit called “brouillis” is produced. The second distillation produces a much higher alcohol content.

Each eau-de-vie ages and demands years of labour, as well as a rotation between different barrels, so that it can reach its full complexity.

The Master Blender meticulously taste each eau-de-vie at least once a year, then select or reject it according to their strict quality standards.

Finally, a selected blend of barrels makes for a distinct, superior cognac.

Hennessy Very Special (V.S.) is produced under the traditional method and is matured in new oak barrels for a minimum of 2 years.
