Cragganmore distillery was founded in 1869 by John Smith in Ballindalloch, and takes its rock face of a name from the mountain in whose shadow it sits.

The location was chosen precisely because of the plentiful supply of spring water, and the connection to the Great Highland Railway line.

Cragganmore 12 Years Old has a maturation in ex-bourbon casks.
