Yamazaki Distillery was established in 1923 and is Japan’s first and oldest malt distillery. It was opened by Suntory which was founded by Shinjirō Torii in 1899 as a merchant store selling imported wines.

Inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, Torii envisioned a Japanese approach by choosing a terroir and climate.

Yamazaki lies in a misty valley between Mt.Tennozan and Mt. Otokoyama where three rivers meet, resulting in the softest waters and is ideal for whisky maturation.

This single malt whisky is made only from Yamazaki single malts that have been carefully selected by the distillery’s master blender.
