Canchanchara

Canchanchara cocktail is a forerunner of the Daiquiri and perhaps the British Grog drunk in Cuba during the Spanish-American civil war in 1898.

Aguardiente in Spanish, or Aguardente in Portuguese it is an alcoholic beverage fermented and distilled exclusively from their specified raw materials, contain no added alcohol or flavoring substances, and if sweetened, only “to round off the final taste of the product”.

It originated in the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain), as well as Iberian America planted by both countries during the Discovering Era.

The word is a compound of the Iberian language words for “agua” meaning water and “ardiente” meaning burning.

Canchanchara cocktail is a simple mix of honey, citrus, and cane aguardiente.
