Japanese Cocktail

The Japanese Cocktail was created by Jerry “Professor” Thomas and was first published in his 1862 Bartending Guide: How to Mix Drinks.

There’s nothing Asian about this drink but the professor created it to mark the first visit to the United States of Japanese representatives in June 1860, who roomed at Metropolitan Hotel, just a block away from Jerry Thomas’s bar at 622 Broadway, New York.
