Lion's Tail
The Lion’s Tail is a cocktail adapted from William J. Tarling’s 1937 Café Royal Cocktail Book where he credits the cocktail to someone named L. A. Clarke.
In Ted Haigh, 2020 Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktail he tells us that “twisting the lion’s tail” was an American slang expression for a character distinctly British, is believed that Lion’s Tails cocktail creator was an American refugee from the States to London by the time of the Prohibition which occurs from 1920 to 1933.
