Maker’s Mark
Maker's Mark
Country: Loretto, USA
Region: Kentucky
Style: Straight Bourbon
Raw material: Corn, wheat, and barley
Alcohol: 40%
Maker’s Mark was established in 1953 by Bill Samuels, Sr. who simply wanted a whisky never bitter or sharp to enjoy.
Maker’s Mark is made with soft red winter wheat, instead of the usual rye. Red winter wheat is 16%, locally grown corn is 70%, and the malted barley is 14%. Double distilled in a copper still and to ensure consistency, every barrel is rotated by hand and aged up to taste, not time.
In the end, each bottle is dipped by hand in that iconic red wax which relates to the ‘maker’s marks’ as the name of the whiskey.
