Negroni
Created by Count Camilo Negroni in 1919, Negroni is the greatest cocktail in Campari legacy.
Negroni is a very old family name. Following the cocktail Milano-Torino in 1860, Campari Americano and Campari Soda both in 1915, Camilo Negroni asked Fosco Scarselli the bartender at the Café Casoni in Florence to fortify his Americano with gin.
The first reference to a Negroni was under the name Camparinete, published in Paul Colin 1929 Cocktails de Paris.
The first time the cocktail appeared as a Negroni was in 1939 Floridita Bar, where the recipe is presented in two ways: the first with genever and the second with dry gin.
