Planter's Punch
Planter’s Punch cocktail was invented in the late 19th century. Fred L. Myers, the founder of Myers rum had a big influence, while formulated and bottled a dark planter’s punch recipe on the label.
The name “Planter’s” goes to the enjoying something by the plantation or planters.
The first “Punch” known print appeared on August 8, 1908 edition of The New York Times giving the next formula. “Punch” is the Hindi word for “five” counting the 5 ingredients: 1 sweet, 2 sour, 3 spice, 4 strong, 5 weak.
There are a few places that could have come from, one refers to be created at the Planters House Hotel in St Louis, Missouri. Another gives reference to the Planters Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina.
