Sidecar

Sidecar comes out in 1922 during the Prohibition-Era.

USA Prohibition was a time between 1920 to 1933 when it was a nationwide constitutional ban on the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages.

The reference to the Sidecar cocktail appeared in 1923, in Harry MacElhone’s Harry’s ABC of Mixing Cocktail, while he was working at the Harry’s New York in Paris.

He presents the cocktail in equal parts of cognac, triple-sec and lemon juice.

The theories for the name Sidecar comes from the story of an American army captain during World War I in Paris. The good captain was chauffeured around by motorcycle sidecar between his base and the bar.
