Tequila Sunrise
According to the cocktail historian David Wondrich’s 2015 “Imbibe”, Tequila Sunrise originates from the Daisy family, a fizzy sour drink that suffered some alterations throughout the years with the addition of grenadine syrup.
1) The original Tequila Sunrise was created by the bartender Gene Sulit in the 1930s at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, USA. The cocktail was invented when a guest asked for something new so Gene prepared a drink with tequila, creme de cassis, lime juice and soda water.
2) The most popular version contains tequila, orange juice and grenadine. Created by Bobby Lozoff and Billy Rice in the early 1970s at The Trident in Sausalito, San Francisco. He also introduced it to the Rolling Stones during their infamous 1972 American tour.
