The Dalmore heritage dates back to 1263. According to the original source, it was in this year that Colin of Kintail, Chief of the Clan Mackenzie, saved King Alexander III from the fury of a charging stag.

In recognition, the King granted the Mackenzie Clan the right to use the 12 pointed Royal stag emblem on their coat of arms.

The Dalmore distillery was established in 1867 by descendants of the Clan.

The Dalmore 12 is a single malt matured in American white oak and finessed in rare and aged oloroso sherry casks.
