Tio Pepe Sherry
Tio Pepe Sherry
Country: Jerez de la Frontera, Spain
Raw material: Palomino Fino
Alcohol: 15%
Tio Pepe, the world’s best-selling sherry, was originally created by Manuel Maria Gonzales Angel, who named it after his uncle – Tio Pepe is the Spanish for Uncle Pepe – who created his pale very dry white wine in 1841.
Tio Pepe is produced 100% from Palomino Fino, a grape variety that grows in the chalky soil of Jerez, in southern Spain, and also the lowest in both acidity and sugar of the traditional varieties of sherry.
Once in barrel, it is aged for an average of 4 to 5 years in American oak casks following the traditional Solera system.
